Visual Arts Guild
Original art shows rotate every 4 to 8 weeks and include annual exhibits such as Festival of Trees, Regional Art, High School and Middle School Art. Admission to the galleries is always free.

February 16 – March 15 – Middle School Show; Reception, Feb. 23, 4 -6 pm
March 16 – April 13 – High School Show; Reception March 22, 4 – 6 pm
April 14 – May 24 – “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music” – a traveling exhibit made possible by the Smithsonian Institution and the Georgia Humanities Council, in partnership with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the University of West Georgia and the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
May 28 – July 6 – Four Female Friends – current and retired Art educators associated with Columbus State University; Reception June 3, 2 – 4 pm
July 9 – August 17 – Regional Art Show; Reception July 15, 2 – 4 pm
August 20 – September 14 – Lisa Schnellinger – “Beyond the Mountain” – larger than life photos of the people and places of Afghanistan printed on silk. Artist to lecture. Reception & Lecture Sept. 6, 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
September 17 – October 26 – The Big Show – Three painters, a photographer and the Georgia Clay Council
November 1 – December 9 – 8th Annual Festival of Trees & Holiday Artist’s Market
Spring Basket Fund Raiser March 5th – 30th
Need a special Easter basket, unique birthday present or Mother’s Day gift? Easter is just around the corner and Board members and corporate friends are busy preparing themed gift baskets for silent auction to be on display March 5th through the 30th. Donors have been very creative with their “baskets” – any theme in any type container is permissible, with contents having a minimum retail value of $75. All the middle schools from Gordon County will have their artwork displayed at the Harris Arts Center from February 17 through March 14. The gallery will be open during normal business hours. The MIddle School Art Reception is February 23, 4-6 pm. The public is invited to attend.

This very popular exhibit features a plethora of talent that includes, paintings, sculptures in wood and clay, textiles, basketry and reclaimed wood and much more.
