2011 Calhoun’s Got Talent Winners

After wooing the crowd with gospel-influenced piano for three Saturdays in a row, Trey Everett was named the grand prize winner of this year’s CGT (Calhoun’s Got Talent) competition.

“I was surprised, and I didn’t really expect it,” said Everett, 19, after finding out he won. “I’m very blessed.”

Everett played a three-song piano medley Saturday night that included: “How Great is Our Faithfulness,” “How Big is God” and “How Great Thou Art.”

The audience received him with a standing ovation.

“Trey gave an amazing performance. Anthony Burger, (Everett’s musical idol), would have been proud,” said Alan Rabon, program director for CGT.
This year audience members had the chance to choose a winner and two runners up, with each winner receiving a monetary prize. Everett won $1,000 for first

place, Heather Utz, second place, took home $500 and Michael Zapp, third place, got $250.

“I was completely thrilled with all of their performances,” said Rabon. “They gave it their all and so many of them deserved to win.”

The finale featured the show’s top 10 contestants performing the first half of the show, followed by an intermission and 10 guest

performers, which featured last year’s winner, Tiffany Trammel.

Trammel, who was last to perform, sang “Trading My Sorrows,” a song Rabon feels “brought the house down.”

The top 10 finalists were: Michael Zapp, Walter Robertson, Annie Tankersley, LaBreeska Harris, Ronald Amyx, Scott Cooper, Laura Dutton, Tara Clance, Heather Utz and Trey Everett.
