New Program for your little ones! Join us from 10:30-noon the second Friday of every month for Toddler Friday! This new program will be led by retired Art Educator Deanna Dodd. Deanna has led this program at the The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning in Duluth for more than 3 years and is excited to bring her experience to Calhoun. This program is designed for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Our toddler artists enjoy story time, music, sensory activities and a hands-on project. Calligraphy Class

Join us for an exciting new class at the Harris Arts Center! Caryn Sims will teach three two-hour calligraphy classes later this month. The first class will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 10am-noon, the second will be Thursday, October 26 from 5-7pm and the third will be Thursday, November 16 from 5-7pm. All classes are introductory and participants are welcome to attend one or multiple classes. Students will learn calligraphy (Chancery Italic Hand) lettering as well as word and sentence structure. Each will receive a set of calligraphy grids, tracing paper, a calligraphy marker/pen and examples of the lettering. By the end of the class, they will have learned how to connect the letters into words and will have the opportunity to write a small poem that can be framed. Caryn has been teaching calligraphy for more than two decades and is excited for the opportunity to share her interest and knowledge with the HAC! Beginner’s Yoga

Beginner’s Yoga Offered at the Harris Arts Center Brandi Rose Dixon will teach Beginner’s Yoga at the Harris Arts Center on Monday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. starting August 21. Brandi received her 200 HR Yoga Instructor Certification from SpringStone Yoga in Rome, Georgia. Classes will be “pay as you go” per session: $7 for Harris Arts Center members and $8 for Not-yet members. Clients will also have the option to pay for a month in full. Classes will be taught in the Community Room on the second floor, and participants are asked to park and enter on the Piedmont Street level. Pre-registration is not required. Lauren Talley is currently accepting students for piano instruction at the Harris Arts Center. Previously, Lauren taught piano at Stephens Music Company. Her music education background includes three years Shorter Preparatory Music School, three years under Dr. Kris Carlisle, Dean of Music, Berry College, and four years with Ms. Susan Frix, Specialty Classical Piano.
